Don't hide your summer dresses away just yet!

Hi! And welcome back to my blog - can you believe it's the end of August already?! I have been slacking on here the past few weeks so I must apologise, it's been a struggle to find a good work/life/blog balance I can't lie - especially when you're trying to cram as many festivals and holidays into your summer as you can like me! I've had an amazing summer though, I hope you all have too. But I have to say, I am so excited to get back into shooting pictures and writing up posts again.

So, British summer time is over. I know we don't want to, but we have to admit it, there's definitely that cold crisp autumn air starting to creep in. We shouldn't be too sad though because it's been a bloody fabulous one (considering it's England!) and we have uncharacteristically been treated to so much hot weather this year - it's been so good whilst it lasted ey?!

A few weeks ago I fell completely head over heels in love with a simple smock dress I saw on Asos - so much so that I bought it in 2 colours (I nearly bought it in 3 colours but I had to restrain myself, it was a struggle) I ordered it first in a beautiful dark pink shade, and when it came I absolutely adored the fit of it and I just couldn't resist buying it in the khaki as well. But obviously it was only a matter of days after buying them that the heatwave ended (just my luck). However it's no worry, because in this post I'll be talking you through how I've styled them in the last few warm weeks that we've had and how I'm going to take them through to the next few colder months.

When it was warm, I paired this dress with a gorgeous pair of flat form espadrille sandals which I got from Superdry (can you believe!?) as well as an amazing black backpack with rainbow detailing from Skinny Dip. (See how I styled it in this Instagram post here)

For autumn I've made some simple changes - they work so well don't you think? This outfit that I've styled up is perfect for a cocktail night with the gals, or a cute date night with your other half. The floaty shape of this dress is so flattering yet so simple, whilst the frill sleeves and smock style make you feel so cute. I wasn't sure whether the over the knee boots would be right for the silhouette of this dress, but when I put them together I just loved how they looked. I dug out my baker boy hat and one of my friends said this look gave them 'Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman' vibes and it made me feel oh so chic!

The snake skin bag I've chosen is an oldie from Asos, but the colours went so well together - plus snake skin is making a come back this season and I am SO ready for it! (There's actually a blog post coming on that v soon).

This dress is the perfect style for throwing on and can be so easily dressed up or down. I would definitely wear it with a pair of trainers and some fishnet tights for a more toned down casual look. When it comes to other summer dress styles - cami dresses for example - I love layering them over a simple tee and teaming them with a pair of chunky ankle boots and a leather jacket.

I hope this post has given you some inspo for re-styling your summer items, let me know what you think!
