Summer blues & keeping it colourful.

Hi everyone, how are we all? Can you believe it's October!? I honestly feel like September lasted for about 15 minutes - this year is absolutely flying by.
October really does seem to signify the end of summer and it seems to have left me feeling a bit down. Maybe it's just because I'm not a winter person AT ALL and the thought of frosty mornings and dark evenings is something that honestly brings a tear to my eye. Can anyone relate? I know that a lot of people can't wait for winter to come round, Halloween and bonfire night and all that, but I am certainly not one of those people. Give me back the heat plz. The past few weeks I've found myself feeling a little bit lost and out-of-sorts shall we say. I've lacked motivation, with even the most menial of tasks seeming like a huge effort. It would seem that a couple of my friends have been feeling a similar way and we have diagnosed ourselves with a case of the summer blues and that 'back to school' feeling.

I've decided to be pro-active in cheering myself up and I thought I would share a few of my tactics with you - just in case anyone has been feeling the same. *disclaimer* - I'm not claiming to be a life coach or anything ha! But these are just things which have helped me;
1. SELF CARE
I feel like this point is so important and is definitely something I don't spend enough time on. Even if its just 5 minutes of your day, you really should make sure you have a bit of you time. I've started to incorporate a little bit of time each day to do something which makes me feel relaxed. Whether its having a hot bubble bath at the end of the day, reading a book for half an hour, painting my nails, or doing a face mask. All these things really do help to perk my mood and make me feel much calmer.

2. GET ORGANISED
Now I'm not saying you need to plan the next 12 months of your life - just start small. I've ordered myself a diary, and I have to say (even though it hasn't even arrived yet) I already feel like I've got a little bit more of my shit together. Whether its putting away that pile of clothes in your room you've been avoiding for the past few days, or re-organising your makeup drawer/bag. Little things can really make you feel like you've got a handle on things - even if you don't.

3. WEAR WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL GOOD
When the colder months come around and you're feeling a bit down in the dumps, I always find it can become so easy to reach for the same outfit over and over again just because you're feeling lazy. It makes me feel so uninspired if I continuously re wear the same plain items of clothing out of the house - choosing an outfit in the morning that makes you feel confident and happy can set you up in such a better mood for the day. Personally I find that injecting colour into my day in whatever way I can genuinely does make me feel happier. I just think that there's something so fun and uplifting wearing something vibrant, something to make you stand out, and it doesn't get more colourful than a rainbow jumper does it? This one is from Misguided, its super comfy, perfect for the upcoming cold weather. I love the almost pastel shades of the rainbow stripes, it's such a fun piece.
This outfit is probably my go to type of outfit during autumn months and is something I would wear on a day to day basis. It's the type of outfit that I feel most comfortable in, a good pair of cut off jeans, comfy trainers and a cosy knit. These jeans were such a good purchase, dupes of Topshop's wide leg crop flare jeans, these were a steal at just £15 from Primark. Keeping it comfy for an everyday look I've gone for my most worn pair of shoes - my black hi top converse. And of course continuing the rainbow theme I chose my beautiful squiggle rainbow back pack from Skinny Dip, I absolutely adore this bag, it's the perfect addition to any outfit - day or night - it makes even an all black outfit a bit more exciting.

SO there we have it, 3 things which have been slightly curing my summer blues - although I'm always going to be sad it isn't summer to be honest. I hate the cold. If you have any tips on defeating the blues send them my way please!
Shoes - Converse
Bag - Skinny Dip
Lots of love,
